About
M2A
Given®
Diagnostic System
The Given® Diagnostic System is made up of 3 elements:
a..
M2A disposable imaging capsule that is swallowed by the patient
and, with the aid of peristalsis, the natural movement of the bowel,
the capsule moves smoothly and painlessly through the GI tract.
As the capsule passes through the GI tract, it transmits video signals
which are stored in the receiving unit. These signals also enable
the system to trace the physical course of the capsule's progress.
The capsule is excreted naturally out of the body.
b..
A wireless recorder worn on a belt around the waist that receives
signals transmitted by the capsule through an array of antenna placed
on the patient's body. The ambulatory belt, which can be worn comfortably,
permits users to continue about their daily activities during the
"GI examination."
c..
A computer workstation, equipped with Given's proprietary RAPID
(Reporting and Processing of Images and Data) software, that processes
the data and produces a short video clip of the small intestine
together with additional relevant information from the digestive
tract. The RAPID workstation will permit physicians to view, edit
and archive the video and save individual images and short video
clips.
